Meet the Team

Our team of Realtors serves the Minneapolis/St. Paul Twin Cities metro and the surrounding areas.

  • Steve Havig

    612-867-5624
    steve@lakesarearealty.com

As a long-time Minneapolis resident and Founder/President of Lakes Area Realty, the #1 locally-owned Lakes Area home seller, Steve brings 40 years of sales experience to the real estate industry. His responsiveness to clients and vast knowledge of the thirteen-county Metro Area — and the "movers and shakers" in it — keep him at the forefront of his profession. Steve also knows how to collaborate effectively with other real estate professionals and knows how to work a deal —−a powerful combination that ensures his annual position among the top 1% of Realtors® nationwide. Aptly nicknamed the "Switzerland" of Realtors® by a competitor, Steve has the uncanny ability to keep even the most sensitive, high-level situations focused and on an even keel without diminishing his power to negotiate on his client’s behalf.

In 2009, Steve was elected by his peers as President of the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors® after previously serving as Chair of the Community Services Committee, a member of the Board of Directors, Treasurer, and Secretary. As President during one of the toughest housing markets in years, Steve successfully managed a balancing act of keeping Minneapolis Realtors®, buyers and sellers, and the general public informed about legislative issues and quickly-changing market conditions.

But it’s not just the business side that make Steve someone to know – it’s how much he gives back. He is currently involved in Simpson House; East Isles Neighborhood Association and Farmers Market; BATC Housing First Minnesota, housing for homeless vets; Kids Promise Charity, which builds homes for children in Vietnam; NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness); Ziggy’s Art Bus; Grace Nursery School; and Kenwood Elementary School, just to name a few.

Steve Havig. Unflappable. Professional. Connected. He's your Realtor®.

  • Tony Dehler

    320-905-5046
    aadehler@gmail.com

As a Realtor, my favorite moment with clients is when they walk into a house and realize it’s their dream home. Sometimes getting to that moment can be a challenge, but I credit my ability to create and foster solid relationships, my faith, and my determination to make each transaction smooth and easy for my clients while making the dream come true.

In addition to selling real estate, I teach middle school math and coach Varsity boys’ basketball—along with assisting on the baseball field. This means, I know what it’s like to juggle family and work, so I am sensitive to my clients’ needs.

When I am not working, I am usually spending time with family, but I could be golfing, hunting or fishing, too!

He has also earned various designations such as GRI (Graduate of the Realtor Institute and CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) in addition to his Real Estate Broker’s license. He also worked with the African Development Center (ADC) in closing the first transaction with Islamic financing in Minneapolis.

Some of his small business commercial clients are Sen Ye Sen Lek, The Copper Hen & Kitchen, Heartland Café, Midwest Halal Meat, Lucky Child Care and Excellent Child Care.

Babatunde has also served on the Board of Directors for both the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors and the Minnesota Association of Realtors and chaired numerous committees.

As a servant of the people, he often volunteers his time to speak at home ownership workshops and business development sessions, and distributes food at various food shelves.

In his free time, Babatunde likes to take walks at the Woodlake Nature Center in Richfield and ride his bike along the Greenway in Minneapolis.

    barbpalmerrealtor@gmail.com

Barb’s contagious energy and savvy business skills have built her a successful and rewarding real estate practice all over the Twin Cities. She is dedicated to providing top-notch service while creating an experience that is fun beyond expectations!

Buyers and Sellers appreciate the way she guides them through the process with dedication, assurance and joy. Referrals from past clients and recommendations from family, friends, and colleagues have kept her business flourishing.

When she’s not hard at work helping clients with their real estate needs, you'll most likely find her enjoying local music, walking around her beloved Lake Harriet, or sharing good food with friends. She is a long time Minnesota resident and will be thrilled to show you around her town.

    Dave Palmer

Dave is assistant to Barb, dedicated to providing honest, detailed service to all clients, making sure facts are communicated clearly, respecting both sides of any transaction.

Dave comes to real estate after working for 36 years as a Camp Director, and as a leader in non-profit operations. Along the way he’s acquired a wealth of knowledge in negotiating, and his experience in construction has been critical for making decisions in multi-million-dollar projects. Dave is perhaps most valued as a colleague, mentor and friend.

Locally grown, Dave enjoys all the area has to offer. Not surprisingly, Dave loves camping and often disappears deep into the woods…but not until after the closing!

  • Carol Bennett

    612-327-9693
    carol@carolbennett.com

When you work with Carol Bennett, you work with me, not assistants. I put my experience to work for you from day one and my commitment doesn't stop until the sale closes. I also take ownership of the buying and the selling process, meaning that I get involved as early as possible and share in the decision-making, as much or as little as you're comfortable with. To that end, I believe communication should be open, honest and often. I believe that's what helps build trust, confidence and success. I love what I do!

  • Carrie Augst

  • Curt Kellett

    612-618-8126
    Kellett.homes@gmail.com

My entrée to real estate sales followed an unusual but natural course. For thirty years prior to getting my license, I built, owned and operated Midwest Art & Frame as a successful local business. The connection? I like building things; I like solving problems and I like people.

As a Realtor, I enjoy helping my clients search for their next home—whether it’s a bargain fixer-upper or their dream home or both. I have owned and remodeled seven homes and am currently working on number eight, so I can spot the good investment, or simply point out the minor repairs a house may need. And I can follow that up with recommendations on what needs to be done and give solid estimates on how much it will cost.

I genuinely love the subject of real estate and never tire of talking about the mortgage industry, the housing stock and the current market.

When I’m not with clients, guess what? I’m working on my house!

If you’re thinking about buying or selling your home, give me a call. We’ll start the process with a good conversation.

  • Doug Bredeson

    612-280-9758
    doug@lakesarearealty.com

Although Doug Bredeson has been a Realtor since 1995, real estate sales is his second career. Prior to real estate, Doug worked in the apparel industry as a manufacturer’s representative for a number of women’s closing lines. And before that, Doug spent three years in the US Navy, stationed on a Navy ship, cruising the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.

Selling clothing allowed for local travel, and being in the Navy was an amazing experience, which gave him time to mature, reflect and grow as an individual before studying Business Administration at St. Could State University.

Needless to say, Doug brings a wealth of unique life experiences to his role as a Realtor.

Doug enjoys being around people which is what he treasures most about working in real estate. It’s a people business that fits well with his personality and he credits strong communication skills for his success. He especially enjoys working with first-time homebuyers.

Outside of work, Doug spends his time traveling, cooking and baking, and his widely known for his gourmet pies. Despite his culinary talents, Doug’s favorite pastime is dining out.

    Testimonials:

“Once again, you handled our home sale and purchase with style and fortitude! We are grateful beyond measure.” -Minneapolis Seller/Buyer

“I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed working with you. Yor advice was always knowledgeable and “on the mark,” especially in the final days. A pleasure to work with you.”

    -Minneapolis Buyer

  • Gary Bennett

    612-229-6972
    gary@lakesarearealty.com

After 17 years as a high school German teacher, I became licensed in real estate in 2003 and have been selling houses full time ever since.

The transition from teaching to real estate sales was not that big of a leap. Success in both careers comes from focusing on the needs of the client and then everything else falls into place.

By meeting clients where they are—be they first-time home buyers, step-up buyers, right-sizing buyers, buying condos or single-family homes—and listening to their needs regardless of price, then giving them the best advice based on current market trends and 20+ years of experience, I get the job done.

  • Jane O'Reilly

    952-484-1956
    janeo@lakesarearealty.com

Jane O’Reilly has been a licensed Realtor in Minnesota since 2002 and still never tires of unlocking doors. “It’s amazing what people can do with a rectangle,” she quips.

Since growing up in Fort Snelling on Officer’s Row in a yellow brick house built in 1905, Jane has loved old houses, and she loves sharing her garnered knowledge of original windows, woodwork, old-fashioned gutter systems, the Arts & Crafts period and more.

But she took a roundabout way of owning an old house, first raising her family in mid-century Edina, where she claims to have spent 14 consecutive summers in the kiddie pool at the Edina Aquatic Center.

She works with everyone everywhere, helping her clients buy and sell condos and ramblers and four squares and multi-family and new construction properties, but she especially enjoys helping first-time homebuyers and right-sizing seniors. And she has a knack for explaining the whole process, from finding a Realtor to inspecting possible homes to moving in—keeping every step fun and informative.

When Jane isn’t working, she’s usually at her desk, typing away on another children’s novel, or playing with one of her nine grandchildren, or tinkering with her “modernized” 1925 St. Paul bungalow, trying to make it old again.

With patience, knowledge and a good sense of humor, you can brave it all.

  • Kathy Ekberg

    651-503-6971

I've recently moved to Duluth and am now enjoying my passion for real estate in this beautiful part of the world.   Prior to living in Duluth, I sold real estate in Minneapolis, St. Paul and most of the suburbs for over 15 years.

Prior to selling real estate, I taught in St. Paul, Edina and Minneapolis public schools.  I'm familiar with navigating the enrollment process and can help families find a great school.

I love selling real estate. Buying or selling a home is the biggest purchase most people make in their lifetimes.   I'm committed to making the process as easy and stress free as possible.   I work very hard to ensure that my clients are highly satisfied and feel confident to refer their friends and family to me.   They know their people will be taken care of by me.

If you are thinking of buying or selling your home, I'd love to talk about your next move.

  • Larry LaVercombe

    612.845.5273
    larry@larrylavercombe.com

The longer I work in real estate, the more I like it. Twenty-four years now: helping buyers win in multiple offers, helping sellers get their houses fixed up and ready to sell.

My geographical areas of expertise are the South & Southwest neighborhoods of Minneapolis, particularly around the Lakes and along Minnehaha Creek. I specialize in “charming, Craftsman homes,” and I also have experience with builders and developers.

For twelve years, I served as the Chair of the Linden Hills Zoning Committee, so I am also familiar with issues of zoning and city development.

My team is strong and all my players are seasoned and skilled. We will succeed for you.

  • Lisa Cassellius

    651-206-4381
    Lisa.cassellius@lakesarearealty.com

Lisa Cassellius has officially been in the real estate business for ten years, but she’s been renovating homes for nearly thirty and she has always adored people. She once owned a coffee shop, so on the list of things she enjoys, sipping coffee often comes first.

But her most favorite activity in real estate? Handing over the keys at closing!

Lisa works wherever her clientele takes her, which could be the Twin Cities and their suburbs or Minnesota’s hinterlands. She feels honored to support people going through life’s challenges, from getting married and growing a family to losing loved ones. She especially likes to work with first-time homebuyers and downsizing seniors.

When Lisa is not serving her clients, you’ll find her enjoying life with family or friends, working on her house or traveling. Lately she’s been crisscrossing the country for family weddings and kids’ events, but the next big trip on the horizon is Italy. Ciao!

After a successful career as a lawyer at a leading Twin Cities firm, I am now a licensed Realtor® with Lakes Area Realty in its Minneapolis Uptown office. As a Realtor®, I blend the skills I learned as a lawyer, including client service, negotiating and ethical business practices, with my interests in architecture, home renovation and interior design—especially color, my favorite.

I am a longtime Minneapolis resident and have renovated three homes in the Linden Hills, Kenwood and Lowry Hill neighborhoods, which means I have extensive knowledge of vintage homes (from English cottage to Arts and Crafts to mid-century modern) and the Minneapolis Lakes Area market. I also have experience working with clients in the Crocus Hill, Summit Hill and Macalester-Groveland neighborhoods of St. Paul.

My objective is to work with buyers and sellers of homes throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul and the close-in suburbs, helping them achieve their home ownership goals on the best possible terms.

Born, and raised in Savage and living in Jordan, I focus on neighborhoods “South of the River.” I pride myself on knowing the area. Whether you are looking for your next home in a developed neighborhood, or if you are looking for acreage, South of the River offers it all.

In my spare time, I enjoy watching my son and daughter chase their dreams in hockey, golf, softball, and volleyball and growing as strong members in the community. I continue my service on the board with the nonprofit Bags of Smiles, Inc., which delivers bags full of toys, books, stuffed animals and more for kids in 18 pediatric hospitals.

The selling or buying of real estate is an exciting and BIG decision in your life, and my job, while keeping it exciting, is to make it easier for you, with open communication via phone calls, texts, or emails.

When you choose to work with me, I will put your needs first and be loyal to you.

I look forward to working with you.

  • Skye McLoughlin

    612-363-3365

I am so glad that I get to share my passion with you here… and hopefully in the real world! Real estate and remodeling are in my blood. I have a background in photography, marketing, and business operations; which has all lead me on this journey to helping you find your next home.

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and artists — my Dad started a multi-million dollar landscape design/build company when he was 18 and my Mom developed a clinic for children with special needs. Experiencing and being involved with both companies inspired me to follow my own passions.

My husband and I bought our first house in 2004, believe it or not, without a kitchen. It was a tiny south Minneapolis home, which we thought would be our starter home. It only took us 12 years and 3 kids later to sell and relocate to a larger home! Whatever stage of life you are at, I understand the desire to find a home that suits your lifestyle.

  • Sue Durfee

I have been helping buyers and sellers for almost 20 years and still love being a Realtor. Each and every transaction is important to me. Let me be your resource for buying and selling homes in the Twin Cities.

I sell homes, condos and townhomes throughout the metro. I will assist you throughout the entire transaction to make sure you receive personalized service.

My prior experience and training as an executive at Nordstrom taught me how to give great customer service. Working for Nordstrom as a buyer taught me to be a great negotiator. Combine that with my passion for the Real Estate business and you get an agent who will work hard for you: guaranteed. I care about you

I was named Best Real Estate Professionals for multiple years by Minnesota Monthly Magazine. I have been named a Super Agent by Mpls/St Paul Magazine and MN Business Monthly for the past 8 years. These awards are based upon service, not volume.

I love referrals, it would be an honor to help you, your friends, family and business contacts in any of your real estate needs.
